Also known as the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, the zoo was founded in 1873 and it was the second zoo to open in the United States. The zoo has had a very successful breeding program and has therefore has become known as "The Sexiest Zoo in America".
The Cincinnati Zoo has been rated the number one attraction locally, one of the top zoos in the United States by Zagat Survey and a number seven by Parents Magazine on the Top 10 Best Zoos for Kids.
It has over 500 animals and 3,000 plant species. Some of the zoo’s mammals are the American Black Bear, Screaming Hairy Armadillo, Black-footed Cat, Babydoll Sheep, Takins, California Sea Lion and Red Panda.
Some of the exhibits at this Ohio zoo include the Gibbon Islands, Lords of the Artic, Cheetah Encounter and a Flamingo exhibit. A new exhibit, African Savannah, is being built in four phases. When completed, it will be the largest animal exhibit in zoo history.

Tickets can be purchased for half price during Penguin Days. In 2013, Penguin days is being held from Jan. 2 to Feb. 28.
In 2011, Moms got FREE zoo admission on Mother's Day. Look for that special again this year. No word on 2013 yet.

With a military ID, guests can save $3 off adult tickets and $2 off children.

The 2013 Discover Book has a Cincinnati Zoo coupon for a FREE child's ticket when an adult ticket is purchased.
The 2013 Entertainment Book has two coupons for the Cincinnati Zoo. The first one is for a discount off of the regular admission and the second one is a discount coupon for the Total Experience Package.
The zoo offers a combo ticket that includes the rides and theater along with the zoo. Other combo tickets offer the rides and the zoo or the theater and the zoo. These can offer a savings from buying everything separately. In addition, a small discount is offered when you purchase the Total Experience Package online.
