Also known as the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, the zoo was founded in 1873 and it was the second zoo to
open in the United States.    The zoo has had a very successful breeding program and has therefore has become known
as "The Sexiest Zoo in America".  
The Cincinnati Zoo has been rated the number one attraction locally, one of the top zoos in the United States by Zagat
Survey and a number seven by Parents Magazine on the Top 10 Best Zoos for Kids.

It has over 500 animals and 3,000 plant species.  Some of the zoo’s mammals are the American Black Bear, Screaming
Hairy Armadillo, Black-footed Cat, Babydoll Sheep, Takins, California Sea Lion and Red Panda.

Some of the exhibits at this Ohio zoo include the Gibbon Islands, Lords of the Artic, Cheetah Encounter and a Flamingo
exhibit.  A new exhibit, African Savannah, is being built in four phases.  When completed, it will be the largest animal
exhibit in zoo history.
Where to Find Cincinnati Zoo
Coupons and Discounts?

  • Tickets can be purchased for half price
    during Penguin Days.  In 2013, Penguin
    days is being held from Jan. 2 to Feb. 28.

  • In 2011, Moms got FREE zoo admission on
    Mother's Day.  Look for that special again
    this year.  No word on 2013 yet.

  • Groups of 15 or more can save $3-$4 a
    ticket.

  • With a military ID, guests can save $3 off
    adult tickets and $2 off children.
  • A Senior general admission rate of $10 is offered for the regular Cincinnati Zoo admission ticket to those 62 and
    older.

  • In 2013, Visitor Appreciation Days will be held August 23, 24 & 25.  On these days, you will receive 1/2 price zoo
    tickets and parking.

  • The local Krogers grocery stores sell discount Cincinnati Zoo tickets.  This can save you $2 off adult and $1 off
    children's zoo tickets.

  • AAA members can receive zoo discount tickets at the local AAA office or online.  There are a variety of tickets
    to choose from and can save you from $1 to $2.25.

  • Buying your tickets online at their website can save you $1 per ticket.

  • The 2013 Discover Book has a Cincinnati Zoo coupon for a FREE child's ticket when an adult ticket is purchased.

  • The 2013 Entertainment Book has two coupons for the Cincinnati Zoo.  The first one is for a discount off of the
    regular admission and the second one is a discount coupon for the Total Experience Package.

  • The zoo offers a combo ticket that includes the rides and theater along with the zoo.  Other combo tickets offer
    the rides and the zoo or the theater and the zoo.  These can offer a savings from buying everything separately.  
    In addition, a small discount is offered when you purchase the Total Experience Package online.

  • The Cincinnati Zoo also offers a rewards program.  Zoo member are automatically enrolled in the rewards
    program.  Non-members can also enroll and receive discounts at food and gift locations, exclusive zoo promotions
    and can also earn Zoo Bucks for zoo purchases.  Enrollment is FREE.

  • Coupons can sometimes be found on coupon websites like Retailmenot.com and CouponCabin.com.

  • You can sign up for the zoo's e-newsletter on their website.  Click on the little envelop on the bottom of the
    page under Connect.  This will show you up-to-date zoo deals and events.

  • If you are a member of another zoo or aquarium, you may qualify for half-price or FREE admission.

  • If you go to the zoo at least two or three times during the year, it is good to look at the membership prices.  It
    includes free year-round admission to the zoo, free admission to PNC Festival of Lights, free or discounted
    admission to over 100 other zoos, discount on all retail and food service location and more.  There are many
    different types of memberships.

  • Local hotels such as the Embassy Suites and Marriott often offer a room and zoo package.

  • Zoo coupons, discounts, specials and deals usually have a limited time and an expiration date.



The King penguin are able to walk outside their exhibit until the end of February at
the Cincinnati Zoo.

Cincinnati Zoo Details

General admission ticket prices for 2013 are:  Adults (13-61) $15, Child (2-12) $10 and Children under 2 are FREE.   

Parking is $8.

The Cincinnati Zoo has rides and theater shows at an additional cost.  Most cost between $2 - $5.  However, you can
save money on these when you buy a Combo Ticket.

Guests can bring in food and drinks.  Picnic shelters are provided.
