The Honolulu Zoo was started with a grant from King David Kalakaua in 1876. It includes 42 acres at the north end of Kapiolani Park. The Hawaii zoo is divided in areas including an African Savanna, Tropical Forest and Pacific Island. Guests will see an area for birds, primates and reptiles. An area called Keiki Zoo for children includes domestic animals and a Discovery Center. There is also a snack bar and gift shop.

The Honolulu Zoo is open all year with the exception of Christmas Day.
Hours for the zoo are 9 am to 4:30 pm
Regular zoo admission tickets are Adult $14, Children (3-12) $6 and Children 2 and under are FREE.
Coolers are permitted in the zoo. Picnic areas are provided.
Parking is available on Kapahulu Ave and Waikiki Shell parking lot. The Waikiki Shell parking lot is on Monsarrate Ave and it has FREE parking. Kapahulu Ave parking is one dollar an hour.
The Zoo is wheelchair accessible and wheelchairs are available for rental for those with limited abilities.
