The Houston Zoo is one of North America’s most attended zoos.  Many of the zoo’s exhibits have been renovated
in the past five years.  The zoo is divided into a number of exhibits including African Forest, Jaguar exhibit,
Dinosaurs, Kipp Aquarium, the Children's zoo, a water park and the Wortham World of Primates.
How to Find Discount and Coupons for
the Houston Zoo?

  • Discount zoo tickets for the Houston Zoo can be
    purchased ahead of time from at the participating
    Fiesta Mart stores that are located in the Houston
    Area.

  • Holders of the Lone Star Card can have free
    admission for up to 5 people (2 adults/3 children) in
    the same household as the card holder.  Residents
    must present their award letter and a valid photo
    ID.

  • You can save $2 on one adult ticket and $1 off
    children's ticket by presenting a current Metro bus
    or Metrorail ticket at the admission booth at the
    Houston Zoo.

One of the latest exhibit changes is the Jaguar exhibit.  The exhibit now has a new waterfall and pool.  As well as
mesh wire fencing.  The new wire fencing allows visitors to see the animals better then the old glass panels.  Kam
Balam and Cocoy, the two jaguar residents, are enjoying swimming in the new pool.  

The African Forest is a new exhibit that will be opening in stages.  The exhibit will offer visitors a rich experience
about the people, cultures and animals of Africa.
  • A Senior rate of $7 is offered to all those 65 and over.

  • Active duty military personnel and their family, up to 5 persons, can get in the zoo free.  A valid Military ID
    must be shown.  Military personnel personal can also get $5 off a zoo membership.

  • Local ads found at hotels and restaurants have a coupon for $1 off zoo discount.

  • If you have a Bank of America card, you can receive one FREE on the first full weekend of each month.  Valid
    ID and Bank of America card need to be shown at the gate.

  • Rice University, St. Thomas University, University of Houston and Houston Community College System
    students can get one FREE with a valid ID.

  • AAA members can receive the following zoo deals: $2 off adult tickets, $1 off children's ticket and half off
    tickets for the Wildlife Carousel.

  • Houston Zoo memberships are offered by the zoo.  Memberships are available at different prices and levels.  
    All levels of membership offer free admission to the Houston Zoo for one year, discounts in the Houston zoo
    and free or discounted admission to over 150 zoo nationwide.

  • If you have a membership for a different zoo or aquarium, you may qualify for a FREE or discounted zoo
    ticket for the Houston Zoo.

  • The Houston Zoo offers FREE admission on the first Tuesday of every month from 2pm until close.

  • You can get admission into the Houston Zoo with a Houston CityPass.  The CityPass bundles some of
    Houston’s top attractions .  Other attractions that can be part of your CityPass are Space Center,
    Downtown Aquarium, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Museum of Fine Arts, The Children’s Museum of
    Houston, George Ranch Historical Park and the Health Museum.

  • Groups of 20 or more can receive a 20% discount per ticket.


Houston Zoo Details

Regular admission to the Houston Zoo is:  Adults (12-64) $13, Children (2-11) $9 and Children 0-1 FREE.

Wildlife Carousel Tokens for Members $1.25, Wildlife Carousel Tokens for Non-Members $2.50.

Houston Zoo hours:  Daylight Savings Time, March 11 - November 4, 2012 -   9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
                   Central Standard Time, November 5, 2010 -  March 10, 2013 -  9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
                   Last admission sold one hour before close.

Food can be brought into the zoo by guests in their own coolers.  The zoo asks that you not bring in glass bottles,
alcoholic beverages or plastic straws.  There are also a restaurant and carts located throughout the zoo.
