The Answerz
Outer Banks Vacation Coupons and
Discounts can show you several ways to
save money on your Outer Banks trip.

A trip to the
Outer Banks of North
Carolina can be full of family fun and
activities. And for our pocket books, it
can be a frugal vacationing spot.

One way to save money is by renting a
whole house and splitting the cost
between a few different families.  These
websites offer houses throughout the
year and also will have specials and
discounts shown on the websites:
www.homeaway.com/ and
www.villagerealtyobx.com/.

One of the free attractions in the area is Jockey’s Ridge State Park, Located in Nags Head, NC is 420
acres of sand dunes, maritime thickets and the Roanoke Sound. We like to climb the dunes in the
evening and watch the sunset over the sound.  It's truly breathtaking.  Other activities you can take part
in at Jockey's Ridge are hiking, wildlife observation, picnicking, kite flying and hang gliding. The park also
offers hang gliding lessons throughout the year for a fee.
There’s also a free little museum there to help
visitors learn more about Outer Banks history, and
how Jockeys Ridge came to be a state park.

Outer Banks is home to the
Wright Brothers National
Monument, located in Kill Devil Hills. There is a
museum on that site also.  Tickets are $4 per person,
and free for anyone up to 15 years of age.  The North
Carolina
National Memorial also has a yearly pass and
is part of the America the Beautiful pass system.

There are many lighthouses in and around the Outer
Banks. It can be fun to take a day and tour them all.
Most are FREE to see from the outside but may
charge a fee for going inside, if that is available.

What are Some Ways to Save Money in The Outer Banks?

Since the Outer Banks is surrounded by the ocean, you can save money by spending your days on the
beach and packing a lunch.
If your vehicle is four-wheel drive, then you could take it to the 4x4 Beaches. There is no pavement, no
restaurants or shops - just the sand and the ocean. Since you have to drive on the sand, a four-wheel
drive truck, SUV, or Jeep is required. Every time we go we always see people in cars getting stuck in the
soft sand so make sure to use a proper vehicle. The 4x4 beaches are also the best place to see wild
horses, especially in the morning. If you don’t have a four-wheel drive vehicle, you can rent one in town.

These are just a few activities available at the Outer Banks.  Some other available activities are hiking
trails, bike trails, art galleries, diving, fishing, golf, horseback riding, tennis, wind surfing, and seemingly
unlimited water activities.
