San Diego Zoo Safari Park is an AZA accredited wild animal park.  The 1,800-acre park holds over 3,000
animals from 375 species.  Tours are given throughout the park in a variety of ways.  The park is broken
into thirteen different categories including Safari Village, Nairobi Village, Gorilla Forest, Lion Camp,
Elephant Valley, Tiger Territory, Asian Savanna and more.  Each section focuses on different animals from
various parts of the world.
Different parts of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park can be toured in different ways, some of them very
thrilling.  A tram takes you around the Africa field and you can tour the African Plains or the Asian
Savanna from a Safari Cart.  Other areas include tours using a Segway X2 or a 2/3 mile zip line.

Some of the animals you can see at this park are meerkat, lemur, gorilla, okapi, cheetah, African lion,
African elephant, Sumatran tiger, bighorn sheep, giraffe, zebra and white rhino.
Where to Find Coupons & Discounts
for the Sand Diego Zoo Safari Park?

  • A group rate of 10% off is offered for
    groups of 15 or more.  Meal vouchers can
    also be purchased for your group.  
    Reservations are required and can be
    made at 800-407-9534.

  • Military personnel with a valid, active
    military ID along with U.S. cadets that do
    not have Active on their Ids can receive a
    FREE one-day pass to the San Diego Zoo
    and a FREE African Tram Safari at the San
    Diego Zoo Safari Park.
  • The month of October is Kids Free Days.  Children 11 years old and younger can receive a FREE one-
    day Pass for park entrance for Safari Park when accompanied by an adult.  The Africa Tram Safari
    and the carousel are NOT included in the FREE pass and must be purchased separately.

  • Combo tickets can be bought at the park’s website.  These include multi-day and Multi-park
    tickets that can save you money.

  • San Diego 3-for-1 pass offers entrance into the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld San Diego and the San
    Diego Zoo Safari Park for five day of unlimited entry from the first day of use.

  • Southern California City-Pass has a set fee for one day at the San Diego Zoo OR the San Diego Zoo
    Safari Park Africa Tram Safari along with SeaWorld San Diego, Disneyland Resort Park Hopper and
    Universal Studios.  All attraction must be visited with 14 days of the first use.

  • The GO San Diego Card includes the San Diego Zoo Safari Park as part of the attractions available
    on their card.  The Go San Diego Card offers a flat fee per day and you pick out how many days you
    would like on your card.

  • Local hotels such as The Dana on Mission Bay offer packages that include admission tickets to San
    Diego Zoo Safari Park.

  • Ordering tickets through ARES Travel online can save you $2 to $3 per ticket.

  • Costco.com sometimes offers discount Safari Park tickets on their website.  You do not have to be
    a member of Costco to buy them.

  • American Express holders can redeem Membership Reward points for an Adult or Child’s one-day
    ticket.

  • AAA members can save 10% when purchasing tickets at the gate, at your local Auto Club branch or
    online at the AAA website for up to six people.  This discount is good on the one-day ticket.

  • Local tourist coupon books such as Clipper Magazine and Get1Free often have a $5 off coupon for
    Safari Park.

  • The Visit California website has a printable discount coupon for $4 off up to six one-day passes.  
    This coupon is good through the end of 2011.

  • Coupon Codes or Promo Codes are sometimes available through online coupon websites such as
    RetailMeNot.com and Dealspl.us.

  • Travel Agents, wholesalers and tour operators with a valid IATA or IATAN card that has a picture ID
    and one accompanying guest can receive a discount of 50% off a one-day pass.

  • If you are a Zoo or Aquarium employee from an accredited zoological organization with an
    employee ID card with a picture, you can receive a FREE one-day Pass for the Safari Park.

  • Airline and Cruise line employees with an ID badge or CLIA with a company picture can receive a
    50% off one-day Pass.

  • Some corporations participate in a program that offers discount admission tickets to their
    employees.  Check with your employer to see if they participate.

  • A membership includes unlimited admission to San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park for
    one year, two FREE guest passes, FREE Africa Tram at Safari Park, FREE Skyfari Aerial tram at the
    Zoo, four discount guest coupons, four 2-for-1 Zoo Bus Tour coupons and more.  These
    memberships start at $85 and are only good for zip codes 90000 through 93199.  Outside of those
    zip codes, memberships start at $250.

  • A Student Pass of $54 is offered for students living in and attending school in San Diego County.  It
    offers unlimited admission to the zoo and Safari Park, FREE SkyFari aerial tram rides and Africa
    Tram at the Safari Park.  Valid student ID required.  

  • A Senior Membership is offered to those over 65 that live in zip codes 90000-93199 as both a single
    and dual membership.  A single membership is the same price as the Student Pass with the same
    benefits.  A Senior Dual Membership is $70.  Proof of age is required.
San Diego Zoo Safari Park Details

San Diego Zoo Safari Park admission is included in all the safaris.  The African Tram Safari tour is the main
tour of the park.  Other tours can be chosen and the African Tram tour is included in their prices.  
Regular prices for the tours range from $40 to over $550 for an Adult.  Regular admission price includes
African Tram Safari, entrance fee, regularly scheduled shows and the carousel.  Prices are $40 per Adult
and $30 per child (3-11).

The Safari Park in San Diego is open every day of the year.

Hours for the park change throughout the year.  The park usually opens at 9 am and closes between 5 to
7 pm.

Parking is $10 per car and $15 per RV for nonmembers.
