What is Woot?

Woot is an online store that offers products at
deep discounts to its customers.  Also known as
Woot.com, this company picks one new item
every day on which to have a deal and it is sold
until it is gone or until it is 11:59pm central
time.  At midnight central time, it is changed
with a new product.  

Each product sold that day is currently in stock
and usually ships in 2-3 business days.  If a
product is sells out during the day, no product is
released until the normal time of 12am central
time.
Beside the picture of the product is a button that will say “I want one!” or “Sold out!”.  If the button
says “I want one!”, potential buyers can click on the button to buy their item at a savings.  If buyers do
not have an account, it will prompt them to start one.  From there, they can follow the easy prompts for
ordering and buying the products.

Occasionally, a Woot-Off will occur.  A Woot-Off is when a new product is launched immediately after the
former product is sold out, not waiting until midnight as would normally occur.  When a Woot-Off is
happening, visitors to the site will see orange flashing lights on the main page.  This can happen once or
twice a month.  They usually last from 12 to 72 hours.

Woot was started by Matt Rutledge in 2004.  Woot was acquired by Amazon.com on June 30, 2010.
